It’s hard to believe fall is almost here. Summer is winding to a close and the students are heading back to school. You know what that means, right? Back to school balloon programs!
As I mentioned in my past update, the summer season ended with a bang with four closely packed bookings scattered across the country! It was such a blessing to carry the gospel to places as widespread as Texas, Tennessee, Maryland, and Missouri in such a short time. Believe it or not, I met one children’s minister in Texas who may actually love balloons as much as I do.
The finale of the tour was really exciting in Platte City, MO. I opened the day with the entire church, using balloons to share how nothing is impossible with God. As soon as that was over, we set up for their one-day afternoon VBS where we’d planned a massive afternoon of balloon recreation. We capped the kids’ afternoon with the story of David and Goliath to bring home the message that God can do the impossible, even when that impossible thing means saving us from our sins.
A fun side quest with the new RV has been learning how to live on the road. Remembering to invest in my spiritual and physical health is more important than ever as I travel because I don’t always have another believer around to nudge me along. Fortunately, I’m often blessed with friends along the road who I can worship with. Plus, I’m able to take some nice mini-retreats amid nature when I have a gap between bookings.
On the side of physical health, I’m doing a better job buying healthy food for the RV and I just joined Planet Fitness. I’ve been excited to have a new outlet for exercise while I travel! Although, full disclosure, they give me free access to massage chairs and hydro-massage beds with my membership, so I’m worried I’m just going to travel across the country sampling a diverse array of massage machines.
Without missing a beat those summer finale programs have given way to the school year, and I’m excited to be helping two different churches in Oklahoma and one in Georgia kick off the new year with a twist over the next two weeks. Even better, God has opened doors for Inflatable Stories every single Sunday in September. These events are going to blow their students away! And, more importantly, I get to see God use my humble gift as a catalyst for the work God is doing year-round in these churches.
